Cookie Policy
Effective Date: TBD — set at launch | Last Updated: TBD
DRAFT — requires review before publication.
CHIP uses cookies minimally. This policy explains what they are, which ones we use, and why there's no cookie consent banner on our site.
1. What Cookies Are
Cookies are small text files stored on your device by a website. They can remember preferences, keep you logged in, or (on most sites) track your behavior across the web.
2. Cookies CHIP Uses
2.1 Essential Cookies (Always On)
These cookies are necessary for the Platform to function. They do not track you and are not used for advertising.
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
chip_session |
Keeps you logged in during your visit | Session (deleted when you close your browser) |
chip_csrf |
Security — prevents cross-site request forgery | Session |
chip_prefs |
Remembers your accessibility preferences (contrast, reduced motion) | 1 year |
2.2 Functional Cookies (Optional)
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration |

chip_theme |
Remembers your arcade theme preference | 1 year |
3. Cookies CHIP Does NOT Use
We do not use:
- Third-party tracking cookies. No Google Analytics. No Facebook Pixel. No advertising cookies of any kind.
- Cross-site tracking cookies. We do not track your activity on other websites.
- Fingerprinting or covert tracking. No device fingerprinting, no canvas fingerprinting, no ETag tracking.
- Social media widgets that drop tracking cookies.
- Retargeting cookies. We don't run ads, so we don't retarget.
4. Why There's No Cookie Banner
Most cookie consent banners exist because sites use tracking cookies that require opt-in consent under laws like the GDPR and ePrivacy Directive. CHIP does not use tracking cookies. Our essential cookies are necessary for the service to function and are exempt from consent requirements.
If we ever add non-essential cookies, we will implement a consent mechanism before they are deployed.
5. Managing Cookies
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. However, disabling essential cookies will prevent the Platform from functioning (you won't be able to log in or chip in).
To manage cookies in your browser:
6. Changes to This Policy
If we add any new cookies (especially non-essential ones), we will update this policy and, where required, implement a consent mechanism before the cookies are deployed.

DRAFT
This Cookie Policy requires review before publication. The claim "no tracking cookies" must remain true. If any developer adds analytics or third-party services that drop cookies, this policy must be updated BEFORE those cookies go live.
